Hello! Has Febraury passed us already? For the southern hemisphere, it means the official end of the summer season and a welcome to autumn. For Melbourne and the rest of Victoria, summer 2011/12 meant a scorching start to the New Year, with the second day of 2012 reaching 40 degrees! And Melbourne’s northern suburbs experienced a freaky Christmas afternoon, when a shock of a thunderstorm resulted in hail stones the size of golf balls! That’s Melbourne weather for you.

Anyway, we would like to wish all our customers, colleagues, family and friends a belated Happy 2012 and we greatly thank our Coldflow Team for their fantastic work over the business’ busiest period. It’s no surprise for you to hear that November through to February is our industry’s peak season, so there was little time to blog in our business as we concentrated our team’s efforts on providing our customers with quality cooling products and exceptional customer service.

So, apart from 40 degrees and Christmas hail stones, what was the overall summer like this year? It was an unusually hot summer for metropolitan Melbourne. The average minimum temperature was recorded at 16.4 degrees, 2.5 degrees more than the long-term average. An article in The Age, (published 29th Feburary 2012) featured Alex Zadnik, a senior meteorologist at forecast firm Weatherzone, who said January and February were particularly warm this year, with maximum temperatures averaging 27.4 and 27.3 degrees respectively — 1.5 degrees higher than usual. “Both the maximum and minimum temperatures experienced in Melbourne this summer were significantly above the long-term average,” he said.

Finally, as we take the step into some cooler days, we are proud to mention one of our summer highlights was installing air-conditioners for the houses featured in The Block – Channel Nine’s successful home improvement TV show last year. Many thanks to the lead Coldflow crew, Daniel H, David C and the others in our team for their involvement!

We hope everyone enjoys the first weekend in autumn.

Welcome to our first ever blog post!

Since we launched our new website, we have seen how great it is for customers and interested parties to be able to easily connect with us online, either by submitting a form through email, becoming a Facebook fan or posting a review on True Local. We decided to take our support for digital, social media to another level by creating a blog.

Recently we sponsored Problogger Day, hosted by prominent Melbourne based blogger, Darren Rowse. The event had over 260 bloggers from around Australia meet in Melbourne to share ideas and to gain insight to successful bloggers from around the world such as Tim Ferriss, the author of the famous www.fourhourworkweek.com. As a business sponsor and novice blogger, the Coldflow team gained a lot of creative inspiration and met so many amazing people doing extraordinary things through their blogs and other online forums.

We look forward to blogging about various topics including new technologies in home comfort, how to get the most out of your heating & cooling systems and anything else that may inspire YOU, as a regular reader of this blog.

So please let us know what areas of the industry you would like more information. Often, such information will be useful to other interested readers.

We hope to hear from you!

Best regards,
