What size heater do I need for my home?

As not all homes are the same size, different units will be more or less suitable. A heater that is too small will not be effective in the cold weather, and one that is too big creates unnecessarily large bills, Just as with other electrical appliances, there are star ratings and different kW to decipher which heater is best for your home.

Start by measuring your home, but also consider things like insulation, flooring, windows, and ceiling heights. Measure the length and width of each room you want to be heated then multiply the length and width of each room individually, to determine the area in square meters.

Once you know the total area of your home, roughly figure out how many squares you want to be heated. The basic rule of thumb is 1 x Square = 1 x Kilowatt. From here, any system capable of that wattage should adequately heat your home.
